For 99 years, the sports stadium of FC Stella Bevergern was nameless. To mark the anniversary, the sports club is now not only celebrating its 100th anniversary, but also the inauguration of the stadium as the “bwh Stadium” on 17 October.
Peter Sasse, member of the board, explained that the running costs could no longer be covered by membership fees alone. This gave rise to the idea of marketing the stadium name.
Since there were good contacts to the local economy, the first enquiries were made to breweries, which, however, remained unsuccessful. The idea to ask bwh came from the company’s direct proximity to the stadium itself. bwh is happy to support the sports club and to give the stadium a new name from now on.
In addition, bwh Koffer contributed to the high costs of broadcasting the Bundesliga.
bwh owner and managing director Karl-Heinz Wriedt told the sports club that the support was important to him because children and young people learn fairness, tolerance and respect in the sports club.
Mr. Wriedt, management assistant Simone Wriedt and Günter “Charly” Schechtmann, bwh employee and Stella honorary member, were present at the inauguration of the “bwh Stadium”.
As an additional thank you, they each received a green and white Stella scarf and a season ticket.
